Sorry Charlie…

Puerto Vallarta, Jal., MX, 5/31/2015 - We had just returned from a great dinner out with friends at Michael Bufford’s restaurant, Bravos. It was a wonderful evening which included seeing our dining partners from the evening before at Cucco´s enjoying their evening out. .  Time was 9:45 PM and I decided to check the email on my laptop prior to settling down.  Current outside temperature was 85 F and forecast for no lower than 78 F in the early morning – a hot night.  I had just completed some computer “housecleaning” when I detected that fresh wet dirt aroma that is a clear clue that it’s newly damp outside.  Listening intently I could hear the sound of rain striking the broad leaf bushes outside.

Not Possible!  Charlie´s Law for the beginning of the rainy season clearly states that the rainy season begins on June 14th at 4:00 PM (UTC-06:00) Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey Time or 4:00 PM CDST for you gringo´s.  Walking quickly to our veranda I glanced down and saw the rain drops denting the water in the swimming pool just below and the lights reflecting back off the wet pool deck.  It´s raining!  And rain it did to approximately 3:00 AM with an occasional thunder roll and lightning display with all the dramatic noise.  The evening temperature lowered to 72 F, one of the best results of the evening rains.

It’s now 9:45 PM in the early evening and its quiet and warm outside.  Forecast is 80 percent thunderstorms.  Wantabet.

  1. Send some of that rain up here to Seattle. No rain for over a month and everything is drying up. Always enjoy reading your blog. Write More, Dave
