The holiday street bands which appear near Christmas
are still here? Normally they go home
after the holiday to get ready for Semana Santa (Easter); however, in the past five
weeks they have been up and down our street.
Our local group seems to have three musicians, a trumpet, a trombone
plus the occasional addition of a saxophone, and a 9-12 year old drummer
banging very enthusiastically on his instrument. This week a larger group came
through with the drummer banging a real big drum. Dolores commented that they must be
practicing somewhere and they did sound better.
We´ve speculated that they haven´t made enough pesos to return home, or
with the influx of many new tourist coming into Puerto Vallarta it´s become
profitable to remain. However, if the thunderstorms
(plus flashing lightning and thunder) in the area remain for a while that could
provide the momentum for them to bid adios until Semana Santa.
Oop´s, the sunshine is back and here they come down
the street…H´mm, it´s a different group in bad need of a tune-up.Saturday, February 21, 2015
