That time is here again...

Casa and Office
April 13, 2014, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, MXthat turning point of the season has arrived once again.  We are mid-way through our annual stay in our adopted country.  Even though Semana Santa is fast upon us, the snowbirds are headed north in droves.  I can actually drive through our town without honking the horn or folding-in the side view mirrors, there are parking spaces everywhere and nationals are beginning their holidays before summer time.  The Primavera trees are sporting their beautiful yellow blossoms and their “cousns” the Amapas trees are beginning to show their pink
blossoms.  The weather is staying in the mid 80´s with cool evenings still in the mid 60´s.

Primavera in Blossom
More and more small businesses are reporting a good year, even though we´ll still see many closures by year-end.  Dolores´ Essence of Cuisine Cooking School has had a successful season and is just now slowing down with the peak of the vacationers on the downside.  This is our time of the year – daily swimming in our ever warming swimming pool, fewer owners and renters in the condo complex (soon to be just” us´ins), fewer standing-lines at our favorite eating houses, taking the Niño’s swimming at El Rio where they can dip in the Rio Quale while we dip into the buckets of cervesa under the umbrellas, and the niño’s soccer games out front with no parked cars to interfere.
The niño’s have started their Semana Santa two week holiday from school..  Dolores has plans to take them to the movies, swimming and dinning at Linda Mar (a favorite), Del Rio, and a movie.  Times are changing and the teenager status of the young gentlemen makes it hard to get them all together at the same time.  The youngest, 5 ½ year old Aldear (Eta for short) went shopping with us today for needed groceries.  Being now “older” he rode in the back seat and promptly feel asleep on the return trip home.  Not at all embarrassed he excused himself when we arrived and promptly headed home next door to continue his rest.  Of course three slices of a Costco pizza had nothing to do with his tiredness…
Our guests, Nick and Heather, have returned to the cool and cloudy PNW after a short 14 day visit.  Heather´s Company wasn’t able to let her stay longer this year.  They had a great time visiting some of the nicer restaurants and doing their thing with local friends.
And now down to the pool for the Niño´s first swim of the season
