Some Miscellaneous Reflection...

We’re three days past the last Essence of Cuisine Cooking Class and eleven days before the next scheduled evening and my favorite spouse is already bemoaning the fact that she’s feeling guilty about relaxing and reading on the veranda. She’s already completed her recipes for the 28th and decided on the table plating display and now she’s re-painting the trim on the veranda while wondering (?) if I’m comfortable lying on my back while watching …I think it might be time for some re-programming for somebody – other than myself.

Talk about reprogramming – lately TeleCable (MX.TV cable company) has been carrying the NFL playoffs on 3 different channels with 2 in Spanish and 1 in English HDTV. WOW.

Our main refrigerator went on the “blink” 2 days ahead of our previous EOC Class. Cooling was approximately 75 % less than normal and the ice-maker quit making ice. I called our administrator and he sent over our “pool guy” who seems to be a mechanic extraordinaire – he just recently repaired some plumbing for us. He spent an hour analyzing the problem, found the defective parts, then went to purchase the parts with a promise to return mañana no later than mid-day of the class. This he did, installed the parts, reassembled the refrigerator and it worked perfectly. I asked him ¿cuánto cuesta? and the reply was an astonishing $600.00 pesos total ($47.20). After tipping him an additional $100.00 pesos and thanking him it still took an hour to get the grin off my face. We had actually thought we might need a new refrigerator!

Three of our local niño’s joined Dolores for some last minute grocery shopping last night and upon returning stayed overnight to watch TV/DVD’s, eat breakfast, play with one of the computers then head out into the day. Parting sounds at around 10 AM were Gracias Dolores!, Gracias Roberto!

So goes retirement.

How about a new career?
