The lazy days have descended upon us. The majority of the seasonal visitors have
returned north, others are on extended vacations throughout the globe, and the
remainder of us are still forming plans to exploit the upcoming late
spring-summer-early fall months.
Dolores had an excellent season with her Essence of Cuisine
Cooking School with the final scheduled class held on May 3rd. Great past season and now she’ll be planning
some innovating sessions for the next season beginning in December 2016. I’ll
do my best to get our website, www.essenceofcuisine.com,
updated this summer to reflex the new surprises. We plan to keep the cost the same at $75.00
USD.
My second grandson, Broc Warp, Paula Kays only child,
is getting married this summer so our plans for the return to the PNW revolves
around that event. The timing is great
since it will happen just as the weather traditionally begins to act like real
summer in Seattle, while the weather in PV is rushing towards the 24/7
rain/heat/humidity doldrums. Haven’t
made any special plans except to visit family, get reacquainted with old
friends, explore what’s new locally on the gourmet food feasting and cooking
class scene, visit the wine scene, hopefully make some new friends, and in my
case brush upon my writing skills and make progress towards finalizing my
memoirs.
With our cooking school closed for the season and most
of the temporary residents returning to the great North (USA/CA) the town seems
almost empty. However, we think of this
time as wonderful time to really relax and get things done that are usually put
“on the shelf” for a better time. This
is the better time. We are visiting the new restaurants that have survived
their opening this season, planning next seasons travel, identifying things
that need fixing, improving, or replacing, and getting re-acquainted with
friends who have been almost invisible because of all the obligations of the
busy season. We will be meeting some who
have already temporarily returned back to Seattle in order to relax from their busy
retirement lives in PV.
