What’s happening?

A new time.  Dolores and I have the rest of the week available to plan or not to plan.  Nothing scheduled until next Tuesday and…time to do it!  The next guests aren’t scheduled to arrive before January 20th.  We both are on the recovery side of the Gripe (Mexican Common Respiratory Undiagnosed Disease) and are feeling in great shape to excel at “doin nuthin.”

Dolores oldest daughter Christine just finished her highly successful one person show, apply  titled “Show Girl” in Puerto Vallarta.  She had fourteen performances and received the best reviews of the season in PV.  She will be at the Auditorium in Ajijic for a one night show on January 7th (www.entertainmentajijic.com) before returning to Seattle for the season at Teatro ZinnZani.  If you’re in the Guadalajara area at that time don’t miss it.

We are hardcore Seattle Seahawks (NFL football) since they were formed as an expansion team in 1974, 41years ago.  We had season tickets at the Kingdome when it opened in 1976, 35 yard line in back of the Seahawk bench.  We’ve been very pleased with the TV coverage in Mexico – until the last 3 games, 2 not covered.  And those were the blowout victories over Minnesota Vikings and the Arizona Cardinals.  The game covered was the miserable  losing performance against the St. Louis Rams.  Go figure.

Yesterdy the local niño’s returned back to school after having the last two weeks on vacation. The street is quite, no impromptu soccer or other exuberant games.  Yesterday the nationals all headed back home to the business of earning a living and paying for the holidays.  We were out and about doing shopping after saying our goodbyes to Christine and chose to pick up some needed items (shopping). It was almost like Easter.  The streets were so very crowded, cars parked on each side of the streets, errand runners double parked, stores jammed with shoppers such as ourselves trying to get resupplied with the basics after the holidays, cars trying to park while the rest of us watched and waited, and the travelers streaming onto the roads to return to their homes, wherever.  What impresses me the most is the patience of the nationals.  No horn honking, gestures, or bad faces.  Most of the impatient drivers were gringos like myself.

Tomorrow celebrates the  Epiphany - El Dia de  los Reyes.as the twelth day after Christmas, the day the children usually receive their gifts.

Feliz Ano Nuevo
